The election was conducted amongst the key members of IISART through an anonymous voting poll.

ARIZONA, January 10, 2022 In light of their initial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that was signed in 2019, Barrow Neurological Institute and Fourier Intelligence have decided to continue their collaboration in advancing rehabilitation technology through signing a new MoU.

The signing ceremony was held virtually on the 10th of January 2022 to commemorate the collaboration between both parties. The MoU signing ceremony was led by Trent Maruyama, Program Manager for Rehabilitation Technology of Barrow Neurological Institute and Zen Koh, Co-Founder and Global Hub CEO of Fourier Intelligence. Also present to witness the virtual signing ceremony were Fourier Intelligence’s General Manager, Mr Owen Teoh, Senior Manager for Clinical Application and Research, Ms Sarah Lim, Clinical Consultants for Oceania and North America, Ms Taya Hamilton and Ms Daniela Mattos.

This MoU renewal will further strengthen the current cooperation and relationship between both parties to continue working closely together in this and other future research. “This MoU builds on an already strong relationship with Barrow Neurological Institute,” said Zen Koh. “We look forward to continue providing them with our assistance in their research through our intelligent robotic rehabilitation devices as well as other additional support.”

Zen Koh also mentioned that he believes that the similar ambitions between Fourier Intelligence and Barrow Neurological Institute contributes to the success of this collaboration. “Both Fourier and Barrow Neurological Institute care greatly about rehabilitation and aspire to advance rehabilitation technology. SHANGHAI, Dec 11, 2021 – The finals of the 5th edition of the Innorehab was held in Shanghai Zhangjiang Robot Valley, Pudong New Area in Shanghai and was hosted by the Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Medicine with support from Fourier Intelligence. Team “Grasp the Future with Your Hands” took first place in the competition with their work titled “Multi degree-of-freedom Fine Assisted Hand Rehabilitation Exoskeleton Robot”.

The Innorehab has been held for five consecutive years and has become a creative platform for the rehabilitation industry domestically. The competition aims to provide a stage for Chinese rehabilitation workers to showcase their creativity in the rehabilitation field, provide sustainable ways to industrialise their ideas and promote continuous development of China’s rehabilitation medicine. The competition also boosts the development of rehabilitation technology in China to a new level. Compared with previous years, the number of participants has reached a new high, with 45% increment in the “prototype stage” and 34% in the “design stage”.

The top 10 finalists in the Innorehab 2021 covered a wide range of topics and interests in the rehabilitation field such as ideal companions for elderly osteoporosis patients, social assistance robots for children with autism spectrum disorders, pelvis assisted exoskeleton system, and the intelligent closed-loop control cupping device. The intelligent closed-loop control cupping device took the runner-up spot, perfectly showcasing the combination of traditional Chinese medicine with modern technology. The amazing cooperation between a team of engineers and clinical frontliners successfully won the third place with their retractor.

The winning team came from the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Their multi degree-of-freedom fine assisted hand rehabilitation exoskeleton robot fully embodies the innovative power of science and technology. Ao Lijuan, dean of the School Rehabilitation of Kunming Medical University, believes that this work has successfully achieved three degrees of freedom for the thumb with control of three motors.

We have found that the submissions have been more clinical, and the quality of the work has been improving. Some of the ideas and designs even successfully became an actual product.”

Fourier Intelligence supports University of Malaya Medical Centre’s event in conjunction with International Day of Persons with Disabilities

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10, 2021 – Fourier Intelligence supports University of Malaya Medical Centre’s (UMMC) “A Group Exhibition by Artists-Patients”, an event hosted by UMMC in conjunction with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities that will be held from December 4th to 14th 2021 in the Plaza, University Malaya Medical Centre.

This event was an initiative done by the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of UMMC to showcase their support to people with disabilities. This event also serves to create more awareness to the public regarding to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities that falls on the 3rd of December annually. The International Day of Persons with Disabilities aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in all spheres of societies.

To showcase this support for PWDs, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of UMMC organised a group art exhibition for their patients with disabilities to display their artworks. Amazing artworks such as drawing, painting, sketches, batiks, and masks were proudly displayed throughout the Plaza. These artworks were also available for sale to the public with profits returning to the patients themselves.

Prof Dr. Madya Mazlina binti Mazlan, Head of Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, expresses her gratitude to all the attendees and participants during her opening speech. She also reminded everyone on the objective and importance of the event which is to generate more public awareness and support PWDs. The director of UMMC, Professor Dr. Nazirah binti Hasnan, were also in attendance to the opening ceremony of this event which was accompanied by musical performances such as piano and singing by PWDs.

SHANGHAI, Nov 7, 2021 – Fourier Intelligence will be hosting the 5th edition of the Innorehab at their headquarters located in Zhangjiang Robot Valley, Pudong New Area on the 11th of December at 1:30pm.

Innorehab is an annual competition organised by the Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Medicine and Fourier Intelligence to provide a platform for first-line rehabilitation therapists and physicians from local hospitals in China, groups or individuals who are keen on research and development of rehabilitation products as well as university professors and students with pursuing rehabilitation majors to brainstorm high-quality rehabilitation methods, solve current rehabilitation problems and promote the development of the rehabilitation industry in various aspects.

Since the opening of the registration on 2nd of July 2021, the preliminary round of Innorehab has received thousands of submissions with re-entry rate of previous contestants exceeding 30%. Approximately half of the submissions come from lecturers and students, who are closely following the trend of medical-industry integration to build more advanced clinical rehabilitation.

The submissions then went through a preliminary review that was led thoroughly by Zhu Yulian, deputy director of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine of Huashan Hospital & Fudan University, and many other top rehabilitation physicians and rehabilitation therapists to select ten of the best projects for the final round. The review was based on 4 important criteria – practicality, scientifically, readiness, and technology level.

It is chaired by Saudi Arabia’s Economic and Development Commission, Chairman of the Public Investment Fund and Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdul of Saudi Arabia. Through the 3-day immersive conference, the objective was to explore the multiple investment fields and development paths that will help shape the future of global economy and drive the economic reform to shape the future of global investment.

The conference mainly focused on topics concerning 4 areas which were health, sustainable development, AI, and robotics. Within the framework of this agenda, participants traded ideas about post-pandemic solutions to public health’s issues and challenges. Healthcare was the major portion of the discussion during the conference.

Zen Koh, Fourier Intelligence’s Co-Founder & Deputy CEO, was invited to deliver a keynote speech on “Robotics – Future of Neurorehabilitation” in the Beijing satellite hub, shared how AI and robotics reshaped the medical rehabilitation industry in China’s upstream and downstream industrial chains. He also explained how this will create a sustainable rehabilitation ecosystem and a new blueprint for intelligent rehabilitation for all. Fourier Intelligence’s concept and business insights became the highlight of the conference and unlocked a new vision for the future.

Zen mentioned during his interview, that investments should not be pursued to “make quick money” or to purely gain profit that may leave a negative impact on the environmental development or, to increase the gap between the rich and the poor. “Mankind is a community with a shared future. The sustainable development of mankind advocated by the FII summit is meaningful, which coincides with Fourier’s concept of development.” said Zen.

“By changing the rehabilitation methods of individual patients, we are promoting reformation of the industry. The need to standardise intelligent rehabilitation will accelerate the transformation of traditional rehabilitation medicine to a more modern one. In China, Fourier Intelligence is developing this concept from the ground level to the community.
