SINGAPORE, March 10, 2021Shanghai-based Fourier Intelligence has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Healthcare Group (NHG), a leader in public healthcare in Singapore, and recognised locally and globally for the quality of its medical expertise and facilities, to co-develop novel rehabilitation technology and robotics innovations.

The partnership, facilitated by NHG Centre for Medical Technologies and Innovations (CMTi), aims to address the unmet clinical needs in rehabilitation by leveraging the clinical expertise and translational research capabilities of NHG and the global research network of Fourier Intelligence to create accessible, affordable and efficient rehabilitation technology and solutions for patients, the population and healthcare professionals. The NHG and Fourier Intelligence collaboration will focus on these areas: Mobility, Frailty, and Falls Prevention.

Building upon Fourier Intelligence’s RehabHub™ concept, both parties will co-develop home-based rehabilitation technologies and devices that will help improve patients’ accessibility to care and therapy outside the hospital, as well as reduce the manpower required in community settings. Clinical validation and trials to evaluate the safety and efficacy of such technologies and devices will be carried out as both Fourier Intelligence and NHG seek to establish a regional rehabilitation centre of excellence.

The MOU was signed by Professor Benjamin Seet, Deputy Group CEO (Education and Research) at NHG, and Mr Zen Koh, Fourier Intelligence’s Global Hub Chief Executive Officer. The signing was witnessed by Dr Loh Yong Joo, Director, Clinical Innovation, Clinical Research and Innovation Office, and Head and Senior Consultant, Rehabilitation Medicine, Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) and Ms Sandra Lee, Business Development Director of Fourier Intelligence.

Fourier Intelligence receives tens of millions in a new round of financing to accelerate the construction of the rehabilitation industry ecosystem

The financing round is led by the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Industry Investment Fund. Partnership aims to promote advanced rehabilitation technology and integrate group therapy into the clinical setting

SINGAPORE, Feb 26, 2021 Fourier Intelligence has started a new partnership with Kobe University, Japan. This partnership signifies Fourier Intelligence’s global vision in promoting accessibility and adoption of rehabilitation technology. For Kobe University, this is the continuation to integrate education, research, and technology to support clinicians in delivering top-quality rehabilitation services.

The global rehabilitation robots market size was valued at USD 529.8 Million in 2018 and is projected to reach USD 2,617.3 Million by 2026, exhibiting a CAGR of 22.1% during the forecast period. This is according to market research firm Globe Newswire. Demand for rehabilitation robots is expected to be very strong in Japan, given its rapidly greying and shrinking population.

Rehabilitation robots are expected to help the elderly regain their independence of daily living and avoid becoming bed ridden. Robotics can also enable patients to train independently and with minimum clinician intervention. This could be a major incentive for countries facing the dwindling population of working-age people who must care for the increasingly mushrooming number of retirees. By 2035, it is estimated a third of Japan’s population would be aged 65 or older.

Therefore, this partnership comes in timely to address rehabilitation needs for the elderly and neurorehabilitation patient populations. Professor Rumi Tanemura from the Department of Rehabilitation Science would be leading the research efforts for this partnership. The research would focus on Fourier Intelligence’s Upper Limb RehabHub™ series, introducing translational research into the clinical setting. The partnership would focus on the portable finger rehabilitation glove, the HandyRehab™, paired with the digital smartboard, OTParvos™.

The Memorandum of Understanding signing event took place virtually on the 24th of February with Professor Hisafumi Yasuda, Dean of the Graduate School of Health Sciences, Kobe University and Mr Zen Koh. The signing was witnessed by Kobe University’s Professor Rumi Tanemura, Associate Professor Tomoko Uchida, and Associate Professor Sasithorn Sung-U from Chiang Mai University. SINGAPORE & NETHERLANDS, Jan 25, 2021Fourier Intelligence has announced a strategic partnership with HumanXR. This partnership brings together two pioneering companies in advanced rehabilitation robotics and virtual reality (VR), to co-create innovative and intelligent rehabilitation solutions.

HumanXR and Fourier Intelligence have successfully integrated their core technologies to launch a new rehabilitation robotic system with integrated VR capabilities. This novel system combines HumanXR’s New Horizons, with Fourier Intelligence’s CycleMotus™ H1 to offer an immersive and realistic multi-sensory environment, which in turn increases user motivation and therapy adherence.

EXtended Reality (XR) offers an engaging and stimulating 3D environment for users undergoing rehabilitation. The integrated technologies enable users to virtually cycle or hand-pedal through 1,000,000m2 of carefully designed immersive sceneries, full of serene natural environments, charming villages and motivating interactive components. This is known to increase engagement and promote user’s participation, whilst contributing to distracting users from inconvenience and pain.
